FAQs

GENERAL
Do I need baking experience?
All cake kits are designed for little helpers, first time bakers and bakers alike - no experience is required.
Are your baking kits suitable for children?
Absolutely, with adult supervision as each kit may contain small or sharp objects that could be a hazard for children. Getting the children involved is a lot of fun, and it will teach them life skills and hopefully a love for baking.
Do you offer Custom Cake kits?
Yes! If your little one has their heart set on a particular theme, I'd be delighted to work with you to help you create their dream cake.
If you'd like to know more, send a message to @bakebelieveau on Instagram or Facebook, or an email to hello@bakebelieve.com.au
INGREDIENTS
Is your cake mix made with organic ingredients?
Yes, it is made using organic ingredients that are free from artificial colours, flavours, preservatives and GMO.
There is also no refined sugar, as the cake mix is made with superfine raw organic cane sugar.
Do you offer a gluten-free cake mix?
Coming soon! If you have any questions, please send an email to hello@bakebelieve.com.au
Are your kits Nut Free?
Unfortunately they’re not at the moment.
If you'd like to know more about a particular kit, please send an email to hello@bakebelieve.com.au
Can I tweak one of the designs, like change the colour of the icing?
Yes, of course! If you'd like purple vs pink icing, or a crown vs a princess castle cake topper, I'd be more than happy to make that change for you.

CAKE KITS
What ingredients will I need to buy?
It’s just the eggs, milk and butter you'll need to buy fresh.
What tools do you provide? What do I need?
Your cake kit comes with two disposable 8-inch baking pans, a silver cake board and a skewer (to test if the cakes are cooked).
You'll need an electric mixer (if you don’t have one, hopefully you can borrow one from your neighbour or friend), a mixing spoon, a large mixing bowl, measuring cups, a serrated knife, a non-serrated knife (or offset spatula), plastic wrap and aluminium foil.
Are the disposable baking pans okay to put in the oven? Do they need to be greased beforehand?
The disposable cake pans are made to go straight into the oven, using non-stick and heat-resistant carton board. You don’t need to grease them, but I always use a little cooking spray to help with a clean release.
When is the best time to make the cake?
I recommend baking at least one day before the celebration to help minimise the stress. If you’re organised you can also make your cakes up to a month in advance and store in the freezer.
Icing and decorating the cake is best on the day as it’s tastiest when fresh, however if you would prefer to have the cake completed the day before, this is also fine. Just leave your decorated cake in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight - avoid the fridge of it isn’t too hot, as the fridge may dry out the cake and turn some sweets white - eek!
How long does it take to make the cake?
Allow up to 2 hours and 40 minutes to mix, bake and cool the cake the day before the celebration – 60 minutes of active baking time.
Allow up to 2 hours on the day of the celebration to ice and decorate your cake.
What’s the shelf life of the cake kit?
It's recommend to use the kit within 12 weeks of shipment to maximise freshness.
How do I store my cake kit?
Please store your kit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
How do I store my freshly baked cakes, before icing the next day?
Separating the jobs over two days helps minimise the stress! For best results, store your cakes in the freezer overnight, or if planning ahead, up to a month in advance.
Freezing your cakes has many advantages, it makes the cakes easier to handle as they hold their shape, it locks in the moisture so it tastes as good as when it comes out of the oven, and most importantly it keeps those cheeky little crumbs away from the icing. Before placing them in the freezer, cover each layer separately in plastic wrap, and then with aluminium foil.
You do not need to wait for your cake to defrost to ice and decorate, just allow up to 2 hours for the cakes to properly defrost before serving. That's about the same amount of time it will take to complete your cake creation, hooray!
If you're planning to make your cake creation all in one day, I still recommend you pop your cakes in the freezer for 1 hour before you start icing to lock in all those crumbs.
How do I store my decorated cake?
Leave in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
TOPPERS
Are your toppers handcrafted?
They sure are, both the glitter card style and acrylic/wood style.
What are your toppers made of?
There are two types of toppers, with the original designs using quality non-shed glitter card. I also make them double sided, so everyone at the party can enjoy your cake creation from all angles of the table.
The other style is the new premium wood and acrylic style cake topper. They make the perfect birthday memento & collectables over the years!
